(FOX NEWS) House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has expressed confidence that she will be elected House Speaker when Democrats retake the House, and Republican strategist Chris Wilson hopes she’s right.
Pelosi (D-Calif.) has seen a growing number of Democrats oppose her bid for the speakership, with at least 17 House Democrats, including incumbents and incoming members, signing on to a document saying they will not support Pelosi.
On Wednesday, Rep. Marcia Fudge (D-Ohio) said she is contemplating running for speaker. Asked about a potential challenge from Fudge during a Capitol Hill press conference on Thursday, Pelosi replied, “Come on in, the water’s warm.”
On “Fox & Friends” Friday, Wilson, a former campaign pollster for Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), said it is “certainly” in the Republican Party’s best interest to have Pelosi serve as speaker.
He said that President Trump understands that, noting that he has endorsed Pelosi and said she “deserves” to be speaker.
