Pope Leo XIV’s Brother Sparks Outrage Over Vulgar Nancy Pelosi Posts and Illegal Immigration Stance
A wave of controversy has emerged following the election of the first American pope, after resurfaced social media posts by his older brother revealed harsh political commentary and vulgar criticisms of top Democrats and liberal policies.
Louis Prevost, the older brother of newly-elected Pope Leo XIV, has gained attention for his outspoken posts on Facebook, where he regularly expresses support for President Donald Trump and shares inflammatory rhetoric about prominent political figures.
His recent posts have included crude remarks about Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and critiques of former President Joe Biden’s supporters.
In one April 5 repost, Louis shared a 1996 video of Pelosi speaking about tariffs.
“These f***ing liberals crying about tariffs is just unreal,” he wrote. “Do they not know that there is a thing called video? Just listen to what this drunk c*** has to say in the mid-90’s long before her husband had Grindr dates.”
The Facebook account, based in Port Charlotte, Florida, also contains other posts critical of Democratic voters and progressive ideology.
In one 2023 repost, he mocked Biden’s approval rating.
“Please pray for the 33 percent who approve of Biden, that they be healed of their mental affliction.” Another meme from October 2024 featured an image of an asylum with the caption, “Where the woke lived before the ’70’s.”
On Aug. 30, Louis posted a personal statement about a reported incident in Southern California involving illegal immigrants and a school bus.
He wrote, “Seems like we are in a war right here at home. A war for our streets and neighborhoods,” referring to a report that 20 illegal immigrants tried to hijack a bus full of children.
He continued, “Between the gangs and the illegals creating all sorts of havoc without any punishment, and the current administration just keeps letting criminals pour across our borders, it’s only a matter of time before it’s not hidden anymore… Keep your powder dry!”
These views appear to differ sharply from those of his younger brother, Pope Leo XIV, born Robert Prevost.
The new pope has previously shared posts critical of the Trump administration, including content opposing Vice President JD Vance’s interpretation of Christianity.
He has also addressed controversial topics such as gun control, the death of George Floyd, and immigration.
Some conservative commentators have already expressed disappointment in the pontiff’s political leanings.
Former White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon called him the “worst pick for MAGA Catholics” and labeled him the “anti-Trump pope,” according to the Daily Mail.
Others online have used terms like “liberal piece of s***” and “Marxist” to describe him.
Despite the political firestorm, Louis and another brother, John, have spoken warmly about Pope Leo XIV’s election.
In an interview with Fox13, Louis recalled their childhood in Illinois, saying neighbors often joked that Robert would become pope. “We used to tease him about being pope because he always had that holy way about him,” he said.
John, speaking to “Good Morning America,” said their late parents would be proud, but noted the immense responsibility now on the pope’s shoulders.
“He’s got the task of bringing the world’s Catholics together… he’s got to try to face those things and bring people together.”
Louis admitted the pope’s new role could limit their family contact.
“Yeah, I’m the pope’s brother, but it’s hard to get in to see the pope,” he said, adding that his brother is ready for the role because “he’s a man of the people.”
