Macron’s ‘Bag of Cocaine’ Truth Revealed? France Blasts Russian Disinformation Plot
European leaders have decisively rejected a false narrative attempting to undermine their diplomatic mission to Ukraine.
The incident unfolded during a critical journey from Poland to Ukraine, where key international figures gathered to address the ongoing conflict with Russia.
President Emmanuel Macron of France immediately confronted a wave of social media misinformation that claimed he had concealed a bag of cocaine during a group photograph.
The story quickly spread across pro-Russian online platforms, attempting to discredit the diplomatic mission.
Footage from the train journey showed Macron briefly interacting with an item on the table, which pro-Russian accounts swiftly manipulated into a sensationalist drug-related accusation.
Social media channels erupted with wild theories, with one X account dramatically claiming the leaders were involved in suspicious activity.
The French government responded swiftly and definitively.
The Elysee Palace issued a clear statement exposing the disinformation campaign, revealing that the item in question was nothing more than a simple tissue.
“When European unity becomes inconvenient, disinformation goes so far as to make a simple tissue look like drugs,” the official statement read.
Propagandists were identified as the primary source of these allegations, highlighting the ongoing efforts to undermine international diplomatic relations.
“Obviously the bag in question is cocaine. The fact that the media feels the need to deny it being cocaine just confirms the fact that it is cocaine,” Joey Mannarino said on X while sharing the questionable, now-viral clip.
“These are all drug-addled lunatics who have to do uppers before their orgies.”
Dinesh D’Souza posted, “Three men and a bag of white powder. Notice how Macron sneakily and deftly swipes it out of the camera’s view.”
Alex Jones wrote, “A bag of white powder on the table. Macron quickly pockets it, Merz hides the spoon. No explanation given.”
“Zelensky, known cocaine enthusiast, had just hosted them. All three of the ‘leaders’ look completely cracked out.”
The French presidency emphasized the importance of remaining vigilant against such manipulative tactics.
The train journey was part of a crucial diplomatic mission involving leaders from Britain, France, Germany, Poland and Ukraine.
Their primary objective was to discuss a proposed 30-day ceasefire and to potentially apply pressure on Russian leader Vladimir Putin, the Daily Mail reported.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer took a firm stance during a press conference, challenging Putin directly.
“So all of us here together with the U.S. are calling Putin out. If he is serious about peace, then he has a chance to show it,” Starmer declared, emphasizing a zero-tolerance approach to continued conflict.
The Kremlin’s initial response appeared dismissive.
Spokesman Dmitry Peskov criticized the European statements as confrontational, suggesting a reluctance to engage constructively. However, subsequent statements indicated that Russia might consider the ceasefire proposal.
Western sanctions against Russia have intensified since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, yet the conflict continues.
The latest diplomatic efforts represent a renewed push for resolution and demonstrate a united front among European powers.
Recent developments in U.S. foreign policy have added complexity to the situation.
After periods of unpredictability, Washington has worked to rebuild ties with Ukraine, including a recent agreement providing preferential access to new Ukrainian mineral deals.
The Daily Mail highlighted that President Macron outlined the potential consequences of any ceasefire violations, warning of “massive sanctions” to be coordinated between European nations and the United States.
