Fox News’ Kat Timpf Announces Her Father’s Tragic Death
Fox News co-host Kat Timpf announced Tuesday that her father, Daniel “Dad Timpf” Timpf, died unexpectedly May 7 at the age of 69.
Timpf shared the news in a lengthy public statement honoring her father and reflecting on his role in her life, describing him as a constant source of support, inspiration and guidance.
No cause of death has been publicly disclosed, and the family has not announced funeral or memorial details following Daniel Timpf’s death earlier this month.
According to Timpf, her father appeared healthy and strong in the days leading up to his death, making the loss especially shocking for family members and close friends.
“It does not seem like enough to simply call him my father, because he was so much more than that,” Timpf wrote while announcing the death publicly Tuesday.
“He was my rock, my hero and my best friend,” she added while describing their close relationship and the impact he had throughout her life and career.
Timpf praised her father’s character and personality, describing him as loyal, dependable, selfless and deeply devoted to his children and extended family members.
“He was loyal, funny, kind, selfless, hard-working, and so devoted to his children that it was impossible to be near him and not find yourself inspired,” she wrote.
The Fox News contributor also highlighted her father’s broad interests and talents, saying he was passionate about writing, painting, sailing and learning about a wide range of subjects.
“He was a writer, a painter, a sailor, and somehow knowledgeable on every subject from world history to literature to accounting,” Timpf said in the tribute.
She added that her father was “the most dependable person anyone has ever met” and said his presence gave stability and encouragement to those around him.
Timpf also reflected on previous tragedies experienced by the family, including the 2014 death of her mother, Anne Marie Timpf, who died from a rare disease shortly after diagnosis.
The announcement comes after Timpf publicly revealed her own health struggles over the last year, including a breast cancer diagnosis shortly before the birth of her first child in February 2025.
According to Timpf, her father immediately drove from Michigan to New York after learning of the diagnosis and arrived as her son was born on his own birthday.
She described the close bond that quickly developed between her father and grandson, including frequent visits and daily FaceTime conversations between them.
Timpf said she last saw her father only days before his death when her young son helped push his suitcase to the car before a planned family trip to Texas, per Trending Politics.
The Fox News contributor also revealed that the family recently endured another loss after her cat, Cheens, died less than a week before her father passed away.
Timpf requested that supporters donate to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center instead of sending flowers, noting the organization helped treat her cancer last year.
Several colleagues from Fox News publicly offered condolences, including Guy Benson, Griff Jenkins and Jessica Tarlov, who shared messages of support for Timpf and her family.
