Musk Joins Trump Admin to Launch a New AI Website That Helps Americans Find Federal Services
President Donald Trump’s administration is preparing to launch a new artificial intelligence-powered government website designed to make it easier for Americans to find federal services, benefits and information.
The new platform, called America.gov, is expected to be formally unveiled Tuesday during an all-day technology event in Washington featuring Trump, Vice President JD Vance, senior administration officials and prominent technology executives.
Elon Musk is also expected to participate in the event as the administration highlights technology initiatives developed during Trump’s second term.
America.gov is being designed as a centralized gateway to the federal government, potentially allowing Americans to use one portal instead of navigating numerous agency websites.
Joe Gebbia, the Airbnb co-founder who serves as the nation’s first chief design officer and leads the White House National Design Studio, is overseeing the project.
“What we’re really excited about is that one of the things that we’ve been building is the golden age of the citizen experience,” Gebbia told Fox News Digital ahead of the launch.
Gebbia said the project is centered around a simple question.
“How do you make it easy to just access government?” he said.
The White House created the National Design Studio to modernize government websites and improve how Americans interact with federal services.
Administration officials have argued that many government websites remain unnecessarily complicated compared with the digital experiences Americans regularly encounter with private companies.
America.gov is intended to provide a single starting point for people trying to access federal programs.
Earlier reporting about the project indicated that officials were considering using an AI-powered chatbot as a primary interface for users searching for government services or attempting to complete certain tasks.
Possible functions discussed during development have included applying for or renewing passports and helping Americans prepare or potentially file federal income taxes.
Not all of those features have been confirmed for the initial Tuesday rollout.
Administration officials have also reportedly discussed the possibility of allowing taxpayers with relatively simple returns, including those who use the standard deduction, to file directly through the government portal without relying on commercial tax-preparation companies.
Such a system would come after the Trump administration previously ended the IRS Direct File program created during the Biden administration.
It remains unclear whether America.gov will ultimately include a replacement or similar direct tax-filing function.
Passport services are also expected to be a major area of focus.
Americans currently use State Department systems to handle passport applications and renewals, while other federal benefits require separate websites and accounts.
America.gov could eventually become the central starting point connecting those different systems.
Officials have also considered incorporating Login.gov, the federal government’s existing identity verification service, into the new platform.
Login.gov currently allows Americans to use one account to access services from participating federal agencies.
The General Services Administration is expected to play an important role in the project because it already oversees multiple government-wide technology programs.
The federal government currently operates USA.gov, which helps people locate information involving Social Security, taxes, passports, veterans benefits, housing, health care, immigration and other programs, per the Conservative Brief.
America.gov appears intended to go beyond simply directing people to another government website.
Instead, officials hope artificial intelligence can eventually help users directly navigate services and determine what steps they need to take.
Several former Department of Government Efficiency officials have reportedly participated in the project.
Edward Coristine, who previously worked with DOGE and now works with the National Design Studio, has reportedly been involved in development.
Sam Corcos, another former DOGE official who has worked as Treasury’s chief technology officer, has also taken roles involving technology programs at the General Services Administration.
Tuesday’s broader technology event is expected to include discussions about artificial intelligence, energy, health care, space and agriculture.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz are among the administration officials expected to participate.
The launch comes as the Trump administration continues expanding the use of artificial intelligence throughout the federal government.
America.gov is expected to serve as one of the most visible examples of that effort, with the administration aiming to create a simpler digital experience for Americans interacting with federal agencies.
