Tulsi Gabbard Seen Walking into WH — Could She be the Next Press Secretary?
Former Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard was spotted entering the White House on Monday, immediately fueling speculation that she could be preparing for a new role in President Donald Trump’s administration.
Video shared by conservative commentator Benny Johnson showed Gabbard walking toward the White House grounds Monday afternoon.
“Former DNI Tulsi Gabbard was just spotted walking into The White House,” Johnson wrote alongside the footage.
He then raised the possibility that Gabbard could be under consideration for another administration position.
“Could she be Trump’s next Press Secretary?” Johnson asked.
There has been no official announcement from the White House indicating that Gabbard is being considered for press secretary or any other new position.
Her reason for visiting the White House was also not immediately clear.
Gabbard previously served as Trump’s director of national intelligence during his second administration.
She resigned from that position earlier this year, announcing in May that she planned to leave government service and return to her family.
Her resignation became effective at the end of June.
Gabbard said at the time that she was stepping away after her husband was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer.
She had served as one of Trump’s most prominent national security officials and regularly defended the administration’s intelligence and foreign policy priorities.
Before joining the Trump administration, Gabbard represented Hawaii in Congress as a Democrat.
She also ran for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020 before later leaving the party.
Gabbard subsequently became a prominent critic of Democratic leadership and eventually endorsed Trump.
Trump selected her to lead the Office of the Director of National Intelligence after returning to the White House.
During her tenure, Gabbard became closely involved in several politically sensitive intelligence matters and frequently appeared publicly to discuss administration national security policies.
Her Monday appearance at the White House comes several months after she officially left that position.
The sighting quickly generated speculation online because of Gabbard’s previous close relationship with Trump and her high-profile role in his administration.
Johnson specifically floated the possibility that she could replace or succeed the current White House press secretary, though no evidence supporting that theory was included with the post.
The White House had not announced a vacancy in the press secretary position based on the information available with the post.
Gabbard herself had also not publicly commented on why she was at the White House.
It is not unusual for former administration officials, political allies or advisers to visit the White House without taking on a formal government role.
Still, Gabbard’s previous Cabinet-level position and relationship with Trump made the appearance notable.
Her visit also comes as Trump’s administration continues experiencing personnel changes across several federal agencies.
The FBI, for example, saw another senior official announce his departure Monday, while other administration offices have undergone restructuring in recent months.
Whether Gabbard’s White House appearance is connected to a new appointment remains unknown.
For now, the only confirmed development is that the former intelligence chief was seen entering the White House on Monday.
Any claim that she is set to become Trump’s next press secretary remains speculation unless confirmed by Gabbard or the administration.
