Iconic Hollywood Actor and Director Chad Lowe Mourns Death of His 13-Year-Old Daughter
Actor Chad Lowe and his family are mourning the death of his 13-year-old daughter, Fiona.
The 58-year-old “Life Goes On” actor confirmed Tuesday that Fiona had died, describing her as a loving and creative teenager who had a passion for dancing.
“We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona,” the family said in a statement.
They described her as smart, creative and deeply loved by her parents and sisters.
“In fact, she was the light of our lives,” the family added.
The family did not publicly disclose Fiona’s cause of death.
Their statement did, however, include a message encouraging anyone experiencing a mental health crisis to contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
No further explanation was provided connecting that message to the circumstances surrounding Fiona’s death.
According to law enforcement sources cited in the report, Fiona died at the family’s home Tuesday.
Authorities were reportedly called to the residence shortly after midnight.
Parents at Fiona’s school were also reportedly notified Tuesday that a student had died.
The email did not publicly identify the student.
School officials said counselors would be available for students and staff members needing emotional support, per Trending Politics.
Fiona was one of three daughters Lowe shares with his wife, producer Kim Painter.
Their other daughters are Mabel, 17, and Nixie, 10.
Lowe has frequently shared his devotion to his children publicly.
In November, he celebrated Fiona becoming a teenager by posting a photograph of her wearing cowboy boots.
“Celebrating Fiona officially becoming a teen today!!” Lowe wrote.
“Keep dancing through life FiBear! Love you soooo much!!”
The family had already endured another devastating experience after losing their Los Angeles home in the Palisades fire.
Lowe previously shared photographs of his daughters returning to see what remained of their home after the disaster.
He praised the girls for how they handled the loss.
“The way they’ve handled this whole devastating experience is nothing short of remarkable,” Lowe wrote at the time.
He said helping his daughters through the ordeal had become his primary focus.
“Being their dad is my life’s greatest joy and privilege,” he added.
Earlier this year, Lowe again discussed the emotional impact of losing the family home.
He described experiencing anger, despair and frustration but said the disaster reinforced the importance of controlling how people respond to difficult circumstances.
Lowe praised Painter and their daughters for their resilience throughout the experience.
He has repeatedly described fatherhood as one of the most meaningful parts of his life.
“Having daughters is such an incredible privilege,” Lowe previously wrote.
Lowe and Painter have been married since 2010.
The actor was previously married to actress Hilary Swank from 1997 until 2007.
He is also the younger brother of actor Rob Lowe.
Lowe won an Emmy Award in 1993 for his performance on “Life Goes On.”
His television credits also include “Melrose Place,” “ER,” “24,” “Pretty Little Liars” and “Now and Again.”
Fiona was born in November 2012.
Her family is now asking for privacy and prayers as they mourn what they described as a devastating loss.
