Megyn Kelly Reveals What Chris Christie Told Her During Debate Commercial Break

During a recent debate for the 2024 Republican presidential candidates, a moment involving Chris Christie and Megyn Kelly caught significant attention.

This incident occurred during a commercial break, following a heated exchange between Christie and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy. The interaction between Christie and Kelly, along with the two other moderators, was captured on video and quickly became a topic of widespread online speculation.

Megyn Kelly, the Sirius XM host, disclosed the details of her conversation with Christie during this break. She described Christie as visibly frustrated, primarily due to his perception of receiving inadequate opportunities to speak during the debate.

“He was pissed off. He was mad that he wasn’t getting enough questions and he said, ‘you know, I made it up on this stage and I haven’t been able to speak in a while and, you know, I should’ve been brought in on that last debate.’ And you know, I had a couple minds of it. I said ‘we’re coming to you. You’re gonna be happy in the second hour,’ which I lived up to,” Kelly said on her show.

Kelly further explained that Christie’s limited participation was partly due to the debate format, which allowed the four candidates to engage in extended discussions. She mentioned that a question about former President Donald Trump’s immigration policies was scheduled for Christie at the start of the next hour. Kelly also noted Christie’s low polling numbers as a factor in the distribution of questions.

“He’s polling at two percent, okay? In no debate ever, and I’ve now done six of them, have we given as many questions to the guy who’s at three percent as to the person who’s in the lead, at least amongst the candidates on the stage. I’m sorry, Governor Christie, that’s the way it is,” she stated.

Despite these factors, Kelly pointed out that Christie’s speaking time was almost equal to that of Nikki Haley, the former United Nations ambassador currently in third place in the polls. According to CNN, Ramaswamy had the most speaking time at 22 minutes, followed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis with 21 minutes, Haley with 17 minutes, and Christie closely behind with 16 minutes and 52 seconds.

Some observers speculated that Christie’s confrontation with the moderators might have been sparked by his lively exchange with Ramaswamy, where Ramaswamy made a remark about Christie’s weight, suggesting he leave the debate to “enjoy a nice meal.”
