Former Republican Candidate Charged With Assaulting Multiple Teens During Her Daughter’s 17th Birthday Party
Clarice Schillinger, a 36-year-old former candidate for Pennsylvania’s lieutenant governor seat, faces charges of assault, harassment and providing alcohol to minors, stemming from an incident at her daughter’s 17th birthday party, as detailed in court documents from The Unified Judicial System of Pennsylvania.
The party, held in the basement of their rented house, started around 10 p.m. on September 29 and was heavily stocked with alcohol, with about 15–20 minors present.
Authorities allege that Schillinger not only supplied alcoholic beverages to the minors but also actively participated in drinking games with them. The affidavit describes a bar area in the basement filled with drinks like New Amsterdam vodka and Malibu Bay Breeze rum.
“Schillinger not only provided the alcoholic beverages, but poured shots and drank along with the minors, even participating in drinking games,” the affidavit reads.
The situation escalated early on September 30, when a fight broke out among the intoxicated adults. This led the minors to attempt to leave the premises. However, Schillinger’s intoxicated boyfriend reportedly punched two minors in the face, and her mother assaulted a third 17-year-old female.
Schillinger herself is accused of assaulting a 16-year-old boy, allegedly punching him three times in the face and chin area.
“When multiple minors were gathering by the front door to leave the property in defiance of Schillinger’s order to stay, [redacted] was assaulted by Clarice when she punched him three times on the left side of his face/chin area. [Redacted] stated that he was not injured from Schillinger’s punches from her closed right fist,” the affidavit adds.
Videos from the night, which captured the incident, were handed over to the authorities. This event marked the second police call to Schillinger’s residence within a week, the first involving another possible underage drinking party.
In response to these allegations, Schillinger’s attorney, Matthew Brittenburg, defended her character and public service record in a statement to PennLive.
“Ms. Schillinger has dedicated her life to public service. Additionally, she has always been a law-abiding citizen. Ms. Schillinger looks forward to the opportunity to defend against these allegations,” he said.
Schillinger had previously run for the state’s lieutenant governor position in 2022, finishing in fourth place.
