Report: Two Arrested After People Find Body Parts, Two Severed Heads Outside School, Popular Park
New York Police announce they have arrested two individuals in connection with the gruesome murders of at least two individuals. The murders were reported last week.
The identities of the murder suspects have not been released.
Severed body parts were found at a popular Long Island Park by a girl on her way to school. The girl called her father, who went to the scene and then reported the discovery to police.
The arrests follow officers raiding a home on Railroad Avenue in Amityville, New York, on Monday
Neighbors told the Post that “battering ram-wielding officers busted through the front door of [the home] sometime around 10:30 p.m.”
“There were detectives and police going into my neighbor’s house, so I came over to see what was happening,” the neighbor recalled. “They had bashed in the door, and there were a bunch of people standing inside the house, cops talking to my neighbors. They had already taken some people away.”
“Cops were here all night,” the neighbor reported. “I watched as long as I could stay awake, and when I woke up in the morning, they were all still here. One of them finally told me what they were looking for [and] what this was about,” she said. “I was terrified. I just stopped asking questions.”
According to a report by Newsday, a police command vehicle had been observing the home for approximately 12 hours.
Crime scene investigation vehicles arrived at the home on Tuesday morning and conducted a search lasting several hours. Officials reportedly left with a “brown bag” in hand.
The neighbor told reporters she did not know her neighbors but had observed that they worked nights “and had brought a number of occupants [in to live] with them.”
The body parts were discovered last Thursday. Suffolk County Detective Lt. Kevin Beyrer reported: “Preliminarily, it appears it’s a matter of a small amount of days, if not hours.”
The severed body parts appear to have belonged to one man and one woman, though a medical report is pending.
The identities of the victims have not been released.
