‘Drag Show for Palestine’ Cancelled After Massive Backlash

‘Drag Show for Palestine’ Cancelled Following Social Media Backlash

Organizers in Arizona have cancelled an event intending to support the Palestinian cause by rather unconventional means, after the event was publicized by a well-known social media influencer.

The event, hosted by a roly-poly drag queen stagenamed “Daddy Satan,” was framed as a “Drag Show for Palestine” and was scheduled to be held at Palabras Bilingual Bookstore in Phoenix. The event announcement encouraged parents to bring children “on their own discretion,” noting that “there may be unsettling subjects such as violence/genocide and adult language.”

However, Daddy Satan’s scheme to liberate the people of Gaza with campy gender-bending performance art was foiled when the event came to the attention of someone who was both an unabashed Zionist and critic of LGBT outreach to minors: none other than Chaya Raichik, who promoted the event via her popular and controversial “Libs of TikTok” social media empire.

Users on social media were quick to point out the incongruity between Daddy Satan’s planned event and the policies of the Hamas leadership in Gaza, which is characterized by a less-than-friendly relationship to “LGBTQIA+” individuals within its territory.

Alas, the event was not meant to be, and Daddy Satan announced the cancellation of Drag Show for Palestine shortly after the event began circulating widely on social media.

“Due to unforeseen circumstances this event has been canceled,” Daddy Satan wrote. “We are all very bummed about it but appreciate the outpouring of love and support from the community. So many people put a lot of work into this and it just goes to show how much support is behind Palestine .”

Hamas leaders have remained silent about the controversy.
