Here Are the 17 Lawyers on Trump’s Team Facing Legal Sanctions

17 Lawyers and Counting on Trump’s Team Face Legal Sanctions

Seventeen lawyers who represented Donald Trump in various lawsuits have faced sanctions from judges, primarily for litigation challenging election results.

Among those sanctioned are notable figures like Howard Kleinhendler, Sidney Powell, Rudy Giuliani, and Alina Habba. These legal professionals attempted to support Trump’s claims about the 2020 presidential election and other issues, resulting in professional repercussions.

“For Donald, the only option is victory at any cost,” said Michael Cohen, a former lawyer for Trump, in comments to Insider.

Alina Habba, who started representing Trump in September 2021, has been involved in significant cases, including a sexual misconduct lawsuit and a suit against Hillary Clinton and others, alleging a conspiracy related to Trump’s ties to Russia. Judge Donald M. Middlebrooks dismissed the lawsuit against Clinton, criticizing it as “a two-hundred-page political manifesto.”

“This even includes having counsel act in ways detrimental to their reputation and career,” Michael Cohen, who faced disbarment, highlighted the risks of working for Trump.

Rudy Giuliani, a member of Trump’s “Elite Strike Force,” faced legal challenges in Pennsylvania when attempting to have mail-in ballots tossed out. His law license was suspended in New York due to “demonstrably false and misleading” statements about the election.

Sidney Powell, although briefly part of Trump’s legal team, filed lawsuits in several states alleging election fraud, which were dismissed and led to defamation lawsuits from Dominion and Smartmatic.

Other lawyers sanctioned include Jenna Ellis, who was censured in Colorado for making false claims about the election, and Lin Wood, who was sanctioned alongside Powell in Michigan.

The list of sanctioned lawyers extends to those involved in Powell’s Michigan lawsuit, such as Emily Newman, Gregory Rohl, Jamie Alan Sasson, and several others, all facing repercussions for their legal actions on behalf of Trump.
