Don Jr. Will Wed Over Memorial Day, Source Says: ‘A Lavish Wedding at the White House While People are Dying Wouldn’t be Well-Received’
Donald Trump Jr. and fiancée Bettina Anderson have settled on a Memorial Day weekend wedding, with the ceremony set to take place on a private island in the Bahamas, according to a source speaking to Page Six.
The intimate affair will draw only a tight circle of family and friends, standing in stark contrast to what had originally been envisioned as a high-profile celebration at the White House.
Sources first told Page Six in mid-April that the couple was racing toward the altar, with insiders confirming a wedding was expected within just a few months of the report.
By the end of April, those plans had hit a pause. The ongoing war in Iran prompted the couple to reconsider the scope and timing of their nuptials altogether.
A source familiar with the situation told Page Six at the time, “They’re very aware that a lavish wedding at the White House while people are dying wouldn’t be well-received.”
Rather than waiting out the conflict, Trump Jr. and Anderson made a different call — pressing forward with the wedding but stripping away the grandeur entirely.
The decision to move the wedding to a remote Caribbean island reflects the couple’s desire to celebrate without drawing criticism during a time of war.
Weeks before finalizing those plans, Anderson marked her upcoming marriage with an Enchanted Garden-themed bridal shower held at Mar-a-Lago in April.
The event drew a notable guest list, including Ivanka Trump, Lara Trump, Tiffany Trump, and Marla Maples, along with Kai Trump — Trump Jr.’s daughter from his first marriage to Vanessa Trump.
Palm Beach socialites Yaz Hernandez, Amy Phelan, and Audrey Gruss served as hosts for the occasion. Daphne Oz, Dina Powell McCormick, Dee Ocleppo Hilfiger, Andrea Wynn, and Amy Baier, wife of Fox News anchor Bret Baier, were also among those in attendance.
Trump Jr. stepped up to deliver a toast during the shower, making his feelings for Anderson plain to every guest in the room.
“I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with Bettina,” he said, according to one guest. “She is smart, loving and caring.”
Page Six first reported in December 2025 that Trump Jr., 48, and Anderson, 39, had gotten engaged. Anderson comes from a prominent philanthropic family — her parents are Harry Loy Anderson Jr. and Inger Anderson.
The proposal took place at Camp David on December 13, 2025, during a trip celebrating Anderson’s birthday. President Donald Trump subsequently shared the news with guests at a White House holiday reception later that month.
The couple’s relationship went public in 2024, coinciding with the conclusion of Trump Jr.’s engagement to former Fox News personality Kimberly Guilfoyle. On the same day Trump Jr. and Anderson’s relationship became public knowledge, Guilfoyle received her appointment as U.S. Ambassador to Greece.
Before his relationship with Guilfoyle, Trump Jr. was married to Vanessa Trump from 2005 to 2018. That marriage produced five children.
