James Woods Calls Mamdani’s Win ‘Most Dangerous Event’ in Modern U.S. History
Actor James Woods criticized New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani during an appearance on conservative commentator Benny Johnson’s podcast, calling Mamdani’s election “the most dangerous event” in modern American history and predicting it could mark a turning point for the country.
Woods made the remarks during a Monday appearance on “The Benny Show” after Johnson asked for his reaction to Mamdani.
The actor said he believed Mamdani’s victory, along with what he described as the growth of Muslim communities in parts of the country, could be viewed historically as a turning point for the United States.
He said America was facing serious challenges despite calling it “the greatest human endeavor in the history of humankind.”
Woods said his concerns centered on what he described as changes to American culture and immigration policy, pointing to New York City’s history as the site of the 9/11 attacks and questioning how the city would address those issues under Mamdani’s leadership.
Woods compared his reaction to concerns he said followed former President Barack Obama’s statement that he intended to “fundamentally change America.”
He also referenced President Donald Trump’s “Make America Great Again” slogan while discussing the political changes he believes are affecting the nation.
Woods tied his concerns about Mamdani’s election to the memory of the September 11, 2001 attacks, pointing to the destruction of the World Trade Center and the people killed there.
He questioned how the country could permit what he characterized as a “Muslim invasion.” He also used the term “cancer” while describing his concerns about Islam’s role in American society.
After acknowledging that some people could view his comments as prejudiced, Woods said he was directing his criticism toward religion rather than individual people.
He characterized Islam as a political movement and made claims about its religious texts that were presented as his interpretation.
Woods, who identified himself as Catholic, said people of different faiths have the right to practice their beliefs in the United States.
The actor said he opposed religious beliefs that he claimed promote violence against nonbelievers.
He repeated his concerns by referring to “Team Muslim” and “Team Islam,” asserting that the religion’s followers seek to harm people who do not share their beliefs.
Woods later predicted that Muslims would “outbreed” and kill Americans, saying he believed similar events were occurring elsewhere.
He pointed to violence against Christians in Sudan and other countries, stating that Christian communities were being killed and eradicated, as highlighted by Breitbart.
The discussion also turned to the upcoming anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.
Woods questioned whether Mamdani would speak at the World Trade Center site, prompting laughter during the interview.
Johnson responded that some relatives of victims who were killed in the attacks had reportedly asked Mamdani not to participate.
Woods also predicted that some New York residents would leave the city because of Mamdani’s proposed tax policies.
Woods predicted that higher taxes could drive residents out of New York, reducing the city’s tax base and eventually prompting greater federal financial involvement.
Woods concluded that New Yorkers were entitled to make their own electoral decisions but said voters would experience the consequences of their choices.
